Privacy Policy
Effective May 30, 2026
Breadcrumb (“Breadcrumb,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a private family memory archive. Families use Breadcrumb to build a timeline for their children by sending notes, milestones, and photos by web, text message (SMS/MMS), or email. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Account information. When a parent or guardian creates a household, we collect a name, email address, and a hashed password.
- Family content. The notes, milestones, dates, photos, and other media submitted to a child’s timeline, along with who submitted them.
- Contributor details. The names and phone numbers (and/or email addresses) of family members a household owner approves as contributors.
- Messaging data. When you text or email content to Breadcrumb, we receive the message content, attached media, the sender’s phone number or email address, and related metadata (such as timestamps) needed to route the message to the correct family timeline.
How we use information
- To create and maintain your family’s private timeline.
- To route inbound text messages and emails to the correct household and child, and to let household owners review and approve submissions.
- To send transactional messages you request or that are necessary to operate the service (for example, confirmations or error notices).
- To secure the service and prevent abuse.
SMS/MMS messaging
Breadcrumb uses SMS/MMS so approved family members can add memories to a household timeline. Contributors are added by the household owner, and message senders consent to messaging by participating in the household’s Breadcrumb timeline.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share mobile information, phone numbers, or SMS opt-in/consent data with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. Messaging data is used only to operate Breadcrumb and is shared with our messaging providers (such as Twilio) solely to send and receive messages on our behalf.
Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies based on your family’s activity. Reply STOP to opt out of messages at any time, or HELP for help.
How we share information
Your family’s content is private and visible only to the household owner and people they invite. We share information only:
- With service providers who help us operate Breadcrumb (such as hosting, database, messaging, and storage providers), under obligations to protect the data and use it only to provide their services to us.
- When required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the public.
Children’s information
Breadcrumb timelines are created and managed by parents and guardians, who choose what content to add about their own children. Breadcrumb is intended for use by adults; we do not knowingly allow children to create their own accounts.
Data retention
We retain your information for as long as your household account is active or as needed to provide the service. Household owners can export or request deletion of their household’s data.
Your choices
You can update or delete your account information, manage contributors, and export your data from within the app. To request deletion of your household or ask questions about your data, contact us using the details below.
